How to Apply

Once you have found the program that is perfect for you, you will apply for approval from UA to study abroad using the online study abroad application found on the UA Education Abroad website.  Below you will find information that we hope will assist you in gaining access to the system and creating your application.

First Time Applicants: (must follow these steps)
1. Use the “Find a Program” link on the study abroad website www.studyabroad.ua.edu.
2. If you have a program picked out you can enter the name or a portion of the name in the “Program Name” box and click “Search”.  Or if you want to search for a program you can select any of the available options to begin your search and then select “Search”. 
3. In order to view a program, click on the name of the program.
4. Once you have decided which program to apply to, select the “Apply Now” button located on the program brochure page.
5. If you have not already logged into the system you will be redirected to the myBama screen.  After entering your UA credentials you will have accessed the system and can begin the application process.
6. From this point forward the system will generate the appropriate application to you.  NOTE:  Every study abroad program is different, so applications will vary.

All Subsequent Logins: (after an application has been created)
1. Select the “LOGIN” link in the top right corner of the study abroad website www.studyabroad.ua.edu
2. You will then be redirected to myBama.  At this point you should enter you’re myBama username and password as you normally would.

SPECIAL NOTE:
Our site is viewable to anyone, however, only UA students and faculty/staff will have access to the system.  If you are a transient student (a student who normally attends another university) and you wish to participate on a UA Faculty-Led Program, you will first have to be admitted to UA.  Please click Transient Students to find out more information on how to proceed.

Information for Transient Students

Students who are not UA students, but who wish to participate on a UA faculty-led program, must first apply for admission to the University of Alabama.  Follow the steps below to get started.

1.  Contact the Education Abroad office at 205-348-5256 to notify us of your interest in one of our programs

2.  Apply to The University of Alabama - by one of two means as detailed below.
A.  Access and complete the UA Admission application online - Apply Online
B.  Print the UA Transient Admissions Application Transient Application.pdf.  Complete and return the application by mail to Education Abroad with the following:
  • Letter of Good Standing from current university.
  • All supplemental documentation listed on the application.
3.  Check email to receive UA Campus-Wide ID (CWID) from UA Admissions.

4.  Access the appropriate UA study abroad online application by following the instructions provided under “How to Apply”.
